A Moonlight Beach Proposal: Koins & Samantha

Koins reached out to me with the sweetest plan—he was going to surprise his girlfriend, Samantha, with a proposal at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, and he wanted it all captured on camera. I was immediately excited to be part of such a special moment.

I arrived about an hour early to scout out the perfect spot. After walking the area, I found a beautiful lookout with a stunning view of the ocean—private, romantic, and picture-perfect for the big moment. As their arrival time got closer, Koins shared his location with me so I could track them discreetly and be ready.

The moment they walked up to the lookout, I could feel the excitement. I made sure the coast was clear and began capturing every detail of the proposal from a distance. Samantha was beyond thrilled—her reaction was everything you’d hope for in a surprise engagement.

But Koins wasn’t done yet. He had planned another surprise: his brother had flown in all the way from Nashville to be there and brought with him a beautiful bouquet of bright yellow flowers for his soon-to-be sister-in-law. Samantha was glowing—smiling from ear to ear with joyful tears and pure happiness.

After the proposal, we walked down to the beach for a photo session, capturing both candid and posed shots as the sun began to dip lower in the sky. You can see the love and excitement radiating from Samantha in every single frame. It was one of those sessions that reminds me exactly why I love what I do.

This was truly one of my favorite shoots to date—intimate, joyful, and full of emotion.
