Some wedding days are beautiful, and then there are wedding days that feel truly magical from beginning to end.

Cody and India’s wedding at Above the Clouds Estate in Escondido, California was one of those days.

I first had the opportunity to photograph Cody and India for their engagement session, so by the time their wedding day arrived, we had already spent time together in front of the camera. Getting to photograph their journey from engagement to marriage made their wedding day even more special.

And I have to say—they were one of the most beautiful brides and grooms I’ve photographed to date.

Their love was truly above the clouds.

A Romantic Wedding Above the Clouds in Escondido

Above the Clouds Estate created a breathtaking setting for Cody and India’s celebration.

The elevated views and beautiful Southern California scenery provided an incredible backdrop, but what made this wedding so memorable wasn’t simply the location.

It was the people.

Cody and India were surrounded by so much genuine love from their family and friends. Throughout the entire day, there were little moments happening everywhere—emotional reactions, laughter, embraces, quiet glances, and all of the details the couple had put so much thought into.

Those are the moments I never want my couples to miss.

Two Wedding Photographers, More of the Story

For their wedding day, Cody and India hired me along with my second photographer, Curtis.

Having two photographers allowed us to document their wedding from multiple perspectives and capture moments happening simultaneously throughout the venue.

While one of us was focused on the bride and groom, the other could capture reactions from family and friends. While I photographed one detail, Curtis could be documenting another moment unfolding somewhere else.

It allowed us to tell a much more complete story of their wedding day.

By the time their gallery was finished, Cody and India received more than 1,000 professionally edited digital images documenting everything from the smallest details to some of the biggest moments of their lives.

From Engagement Photos to Wedding Day

One of my favorite parts of photographing weddings is having the opportunity to work with a couple before their wedding day.

I photographed Cody and India’s engagement session before they hired me to capture their wedding, and that experience gave us a chance to get comfortable working together.

They already knew how I directed and photographed them, and I already understood how they naturally interacted as a couple.

When the wedding day arrived, we weren't meeting for the first time with a camera between us. We could simply pick up where we left off.

That comfort makes such a difference.

Capturing the Little Details

Wedding photography isn't only about the ceremony, first kiss, and formal portraits.

It's also about everything happening around those moments.

The carefully selected details. The people who traveled to celebrate with you. The expressions you didn't get to see because you were somewhere else. The way your parents looked at you. The laughter between friends. The quiet moments before the ceremony.

Curtis and I spent the day intentionally documenting those pieces of Cody and India’s story.

Years from now, I want them to be able to open their wedding gallery and experience the day all over again—including moments they may not have even realized were happening.

Tips for Choosing Your Escondido Wedding Photographer

If you're planning a wedding in Escondido or elsewhere in San Diego County, here are a few things to consider when choosing your photographer.

Consider an Engagement Session First

An engagement session gives you more than beautiful photographs. It's an opportunity to get comfortable with your photographer before your wedding.

You'll learn how they direct you, they'll learn what photographs well for you as a couple, and walking into your wedding photography will feel much more natural.

Ask Whether You Need a Second Photographer

For larger weddings, multiple locations, or couples who want extensive coverage, a second photographer can be incredibly valuable.

Two photographers can capture different perspectives and document moments happening at the same time.

Look at the Photographer's Editing Style

Wedding trends come and go. Make sure you choose a photographer whose editing style you genuinely love—not simply what's popular right now.

My photography is known for being bright, vibrant, and true to the celebration, and I want my couples' photographs to still feel beautiful years from now.

Think Beyond the Number of Photos

A large gallery is wonderful, but what's most important is whether your photographer tells the complete story.

For Cody and India, that story resulted in more than 1,000 edited images because there was so much worth documenting throughout their day.

Choose Someone You Actually Enjoy Being Around

Your wedding photographer will be beside you for a significant portion of one of the most important days of your life.

Beautiful work matters, but so does trust, communication, and feeling comfortable with the person behind the camera.

Frequently Asked Questions About Wedding Photography

Do you photograph weddings in Escondido?

Yes. I photograph weddings throughout Escondido, San Diego County, Temecula, and surrounding Southern California communities.

Do you offer a second photographer?

Yes. Depending on your wedding coverage and needs, a second photographer can be included or added to provide additional perspectives and more complete coverage of your day.

Should we book an engagement session with our wedding photographer?

I highly recommend it. Engagement sessions help you become comfortable in front of the camera and give us an opportunity to work together before the wedding.

How many wedding photos will we receive?

Every wedding is different, so the final number depends on the length of coverage, events, and photography package. Cody and India’s wedding resulted in a gallery of more than 1,000 professionally edited digital images.

Do you photograph the small wedding details?

Absolutely. Details are an important part of telling the complete story of your wedding day. My goal is to capture both the major moments and the smaller details and interactions happening throughout the celebration.

Do you photograph candid moments as well as posed portraits?

Yes. Wedding galleries should include both. We'll create the important traditional portraits while also documenting the genuine interactions and candid moments unfolding throughout the day.

A Truly Magical Escondido Wedding

From their engagement session to watching Cody and India become husband and wife, it was such an honor to document this chapter of their story.

Their Above the Clouds Estate wedding was beautiful, intimate, joyful, and overflowing with love from beginning to end.

The location was breathtaking. The bride and groom were stunning. Their family and friends surrounded them with pure love.

And together, Curtis and I had the privilege of preserving it all.

Cody and India, thank you for trusting us with such an important day.

Your love truly was above the clouds.
